Permissions Setup

Window Orbit operates 100% on-device and requires two standard macOS permissions:

Accessibility Permission (Required)

Allows Window Orbit to detect ⌥ Option + Tab and bring your selected window to front.
System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility → Toggle WindowOrbit ON.

Screen Recording Permission (Visual Previews)

Allows macOS to generate live window thumbnails in local RAM so you can identify open documents visually.
System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording → Toggle WindowOrbit ON.

Common Troubleshooting

Window Orbit doesn't show on Option+Tab:

Ensure Window Orbit is running in your top menu bar. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. If Window Orbit is already checked, toggle it OFF and ON again to refresh the macOS event tap permission.

Cards show app icons instead of live previews:

Ensure Screen Recording is enabled in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording. Then restart Window Orbit from its menu bar icon.

Battery & CPU consumption:

Window Orbit consumes 0.0% CPU when idle. It utilizes macOS hardware-accelerated Metal rendering strictly when the switcher HUD is active on screen.
